We are deeply saddened to announce that our Jon Audain, our beloved Director of Music, passed away peacefully a few days ago.
Jon has been involved with the Warsash Band for well over 20 years. Initially joining the band as principle flautist, he was later appointed conductor of the Warsash Band Training Section in 2003 and then Director of Music of both the Main Band and Training Band in 2014.
Jon loved the Warsash band and everyone that played in it or supported it. His caring, nurturing and supportive approach has been the inspiration for so many people. His sense of humour and smile has been a shining light.
As well as being a fabulous Director of Music, Jon was a talented musician. He was an incredibly accomplished flautist, oboist, saxophonist and pianist. On the odd occasion he even turned his hand to drums and bass guitar! When Jon played, he poured his heart into every note. The beauty of his playing simply took your breath away.
Jon was always keen to share his love of music with the community and made many connections between local bands and other community groups. He will also be fondly remembered by those he taught during his early career in local schools and with the Hampshire Music Service. We know there will be many people who will be feeling his loss as much as we are. If you would like to talk to us or share your memories of Jon, please do get in touch with us.
