The Warsash Band marked the end of another successful year by spreading Christmas cheer in a succession of community events.
The band was delighted to be asked back to support community carol evenings in Knowle and Warsash, both of which have become fixtures in the Christmas calendar over the last few years. But the season started on the last weekend of November, when the band provided the music for the Stubbington Christmas lights switch on.
In the midst of this, the band performed its Christmas concert in the Victory Hall to great acclaim. As usual, the audience enjoyed a wide variety of music in the first half before settling into full Christmas spirit in the second half.
The Christmas concert is also the band's opportunity to recognise the enthusiasm and dedication of its members, who make all this possible. The band presents awards to one main band and one training band member each year, to recognise exceptional contributions to the success of the band. This year's well-deserved winners of the awards were Lucy Inwards and John Hardiman; congratulations to them both. In addition, assistant director of music Dave Kinloch received a presentation recognising his exceptional efforts in stepping up to temporary full time conducting duties.
The final event of the year was the Warsash Community Christmas Carols on 23rd December. With the band at the heart of its local community, this was the perfect end to another busy and successful Christmas season.
